I take the responsibility very seriously and will do whatever I can to accommodate your wishes - nothing is too much trouble. Whether you’d like a singer during your ceremony, at the wedding breakfast, as the evening entertainment or even all of the above, I'd be happy to hear your ideas and help in any way I can.
However much or little live music you want on your big day, if there’s a song that’s really special to you then make sure you let me know so I can learn it for you.
The actual legal part of a modern Civil Ceremony is quite short, so it’s a nice idea to embellish it with special readings or poems, or songs which mean a lot to you.
You will need music for the entry of the bride and ideally to fill the time at the end of the ceremony when you are both busy signing the register. You can also have a song or two integrated into the actual ceremony, and having someone singing live can make it all the more special. The songs can be anything you want, but they can’t have overt religious references in them. Anything from operatic arias such as O Mio Babbino Caro to jazz standards like It Had To Be You, from rock ballads to musical theatre, and from Buble to The Beatles can work brilliantly – I’d love to hear what your ideas are!
As for religious ceremonies, I have a soprano range and would be honoured to sing some hymns or classical music for your wedding. I can sing accompanied by the organist or can use some of my top-quality backing tracks for that richer orchestral sound. Traditional hymns like Morning Has Broken or All Love Divine, All Love Excelling, classical music like Ave Maria and gospels such as Amazing Grace can be beautiful, but these days it’s also usually acceptable to have something a bit more modern if you’d prefer.
Have you considered having live entertainment during your wedding breakfast? I can perform a set of jazz, swing, easy listening and acoustic love-songs which I’ve tried and tested at numerous weddings, restaurants and dinner events. It guarantees that extra touch of class and interest during the meal, without distracting from your fantastic food, or being so loud that your guests can’t make conversation.
I can fill the time right the way through the meal with an hour and a half of singing, broken up with lovely piano recordings of popular songs in the breaks. Then when it’s time for the toasts and speeches, you’re very welcome to borrow my wireless microphone.
As with the breakfast, having live music at your Drinks Reception really creates a nice ambiance. I can set up inside or outside... weather permitting!
This is often the point when you may want to escape with the photographer to have a quick breather and get some romantic shots with just the two of you, so having live music for your guests during this time makes it feel more like an event than just an interlude before the food!
My Wedding Breakfast or Drinks Reception set includes songs like My Baby Just Cares For Me (Nina Simone), Your Song (Ellie Goulding version), Make You Feel My Love (Adele version), Can’t Help Falling In Love with You (Acoustic version), I Won't Give Up (Jason Mraz), Kiss Me (Sixpence None The Richer), Fly Me To The Moon (Julie London), and Perfect (Fairground Attraction).
Let’s get the party started! I sing a wide selection of upbeat popular songs from the 50's to now, so there will definitely be something for everyone, from Rock and Roll to Rihanna! My sound engineer Dan and I will be set up and sound-checked before your evening guests arrive, and can provide our own stage, star-cloth backdrop and lighting. I can perform numerous sets of live singing throughout the night and we can provide the disco too if required, with songs from every decade including the latest chart hits.
A typical set-list will be a real mix from the last six decades, eg. You Can’t Hurry Love, My Guy, Marry You, Build Me Up Buttercup, Mustang Sally, Mamma Mia, Poker Face, Footloose, Don’t Stop Me Now, Summer of 69, Celebration, Walking On Sunshine, Valerie, We Found Love and many more!
